Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Purchase Compass collects, why, how it's stored, and the choices you have. We aim for plain language.

What we collect

  • Account data: email address, display name, and authentication tokens.
  • Receipt content you upload: photos, PDFs, parsed line items, store names, dates, totals, categories, and (if the Health add-on is enabled) Mediterranean-diet scoring of grocery items.
  • Subscription & billing metadata: tier, status, and customer ID returned by Stripe. We do not see or store full card numbers.
  • Usage analytics: page views, basic device/browser info, and feature interactions via Google Analytics 4 — only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Error and abuse logs: truncated request metadata used to debug crashes and prevent abuse.

How we use it

  • Run the service: parse receipts, render analytics, sync to your storage backend.
  • Bill subscriptions and apply usage limits.
  • Improve product quality and fix bugs.
  • Respond to support requests you initiate.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your receipts for advertising.

Subprocessors

We rely on third-party services to operate. By using Purchase Compass you agree to their processing of the data necessary to provide their piece of the service:

  • Lovable Cloud (database, auth, file storage, hosting).
  • Stripe (subscription billing).
  • Google — Google Analytics 4 (optional, consent-gated) and, only if you enable Pro storage, Google Drive & Sheets to sync receipts to your own account.
  • AI model provider (used to OCR and classify receipt contents you upload).
  • Email delivery provider for transactional and auth emails sent from notify.purchasecompass.app.

Cookies & tracking

The site uses a small set of cookies and similar storage:

  • sb-*-auth-token — keeps you signed in. Strictly necessary.
  • pc_consent_v1, pc_cookie_notice_dismissed_v1 — remember your cookie choices. Strictly necessary.
  • _ga, _ga_<id> — Google Analytics. ~2 years. Loaded only if you accept analytics cookies.

Data retention

Your account data and receipts persist until you delete them or close your account. You can export receipts as CSV and delete individual receipts at any time from the app. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at the address below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. To exercise these rights:

California residents: you can opt out of analytics sharing using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" toggle in . We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal automatically.

Children

Purchase Compass is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in parts of the EU). If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards including TLS in transit and access controls on stored data. No service can guarantee absolute security — see our Terms & Conditions for the full disclosure.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
